Jean Didier Perfumes

Jean Didier Perfumes............

This company produced a large number of perfumes in the years 1941 and 1951.   Probably established as a result of war time shortages, these locally produced perfumes promoted themselves as French perfumes.    Truth in advertising was not a law at the time.    While the only examples I have at the time of writing appears to be lower end products, they were sold in Melbourne's most prestigious store, Georges of Melbourne.   Once supplies of imported perfumes were restored to pre war levels (early 1950s) the perfumes failed to maintain their share of the market and the company closed.    The company/perfumery was in La Trobe Street, Melbourne.
